Requesting Money
If you would like to request money from the fund, submit the form that was sent out in an email to Access members. If you did not receive an email, you can contact Joel Corbo <Joel.Corbo@colorado.edu> or Gina Quan <gina.m.quan@gmail.com>. Please request as much as you think you’ll need from the fund in a two week period. You can submit another request using this same form for future cycles (see below). The form has been made as anonymous as possible. Only three people will have access to information you submit on the form, as necessary: Joel Corbo <Joel.Corbo@colorado.edu>, Gina Quan <gina.m.quan@gmail.com>, and Scott Franklin <svfsps@rit.edu>. If you are not comfortable with this, please contact someone in Access who you are comfortable with, so we can work out an alternative.
Contributing Money
If you would like to contribute to the fund, please visit the GoFundMe page here. GoFundMe automatically charges a fee of 3% of donations plus $0.30. Contributions will go to a central pool of money to be dispersed based on need. Please contribute anonymously via GoFundMe; we will not display donor names publically, though you are free to share information about your donation on other channels (such as social media). Only Brianne Gutmann will have access to who has donated to the fund, and she will only look up this information if required by currently unforeseen circumstances. Your contribution will be treated as a gift, and is not tax-deductible. For tax reasons, there is a $15,000 limit on the amount of money you can contribute in this way. If you would like to contribute more, please contact Brianne Gutmann <brianne.gutmann@gmail.com>.
Timelines
The fund will operate in cycles, with two deadlines a month, for three months. At the time of each deadline, we will process all requests and then refresh the request form for the next cycle. Within each cycle, we will honor all requests in their full amounts if possible. If that is not possible, we will fund all requests at the same percentage rate for that cycle. Soon after each deadline, we will post an update on the GoFundMe page linked above with totals from that cycle, the percentage rate that we used, and the remaining money in the fund. The deadlines are:
- Sunday May 10
- Monday May 25
- Wednesday June 10
- Thursday June 25
- Friday July 10
- Saturday July 25
- One-time round: Sunday April 25, 2021
At the end of each cycle, we will update this public spreadsheet.
If money remains in the fund after the last cycle concludes, we will distribute the remaining funds to student emergency funds at institutions of Access member sites.
Disbursement of Funds
If we can’t meet all requests in full for a given cycle, we will fund all requests by the same percentage.
Questions?
If you have any questions about the fund, please get in touch with Ben Pollard <pollard@cuprime.org> and Corey Ptak <coreyptak@gmail.com>. If needed, those two people will pull in any others mentioned above, preserving anonymity as much as possible.
